WINE TASTING IN MARTINBOROUGH
11/08/20
I recently had the lovely opportunity to pop over from Wellington to Martinborough for a spot of wine tasting at Hamden Estate.

Martinborough is a part of the country I had never ventured out to before, there are miles and miles of vineyards in the area which makes for an epic wine tasting weekend.
We arrived early on Saturday afternoon and settled into our cottage which is situated on the winery estate, a very handy spot if you’re planning on having a wine tasting and don’t want to nominate a driver. We enjoyed the wine tasting experience, learning about the science of it all and tasting what the estate had to offer. We then took a bottle of the Sav back over to the cottage and continued sipping for the rest of the afternoon. We took a stroll around the grounds and through the vines, seeing where each of our wines came from.

The cottage itself was super modern and comfortable and had everything we needed, which made for such a pleasant stay. We enjoyed a late dinner at Martinborough’s Union Square Hotel Bar which had impeccable food and wine pairings (as you’d assume!).

We woke up the following morning, the grounds were frosty and the sun was out. A lovely breakfast was provided, including (to our delight) supreme coffee. We enjoyed the sun on the front porch and then headed off to wander around Martinborough, which is a beautiful little town full of boutique homeware and wine stores, and a bunch of cute cafe’s.

If you haven’t been to the Martinborough area we highly recommend it for a weekend wine experience!
Get in contact with Hamden Estate if you’d love to stay in the area for a convenient post wine tasting spot to park up for the night. Their cellar doors are open every weekend for tastings.
Thank you to the Hamden Estate Team for inviting us to stay last month!
