TIPS FOR WORKING FROM HOME

07/04/20

Here are a few tips that have helped me stay motivated over the past little bit whilst being at home. It’s always best to do what works for you, however if you’ve been struggling with working from home lately or losing motivation to get out of bed and get your to-do’s ticked off each day then have a read through the things that have helped me:

Make the bed

It may seem simple, but make your bed as soon as you get up. Otherwise that bed will be calling your name for the rest of the day. Once it’s made you’ll be far less likely to slink back into those sheets.

Get dressed and ready

It’s oh so tempting to work all day in your PJ’s (and don’t worry, if it’s one of those days then just do it), but if you’re working from home for a few weeks or longer you will feel far more motivated when you’re dressed ‘smart casual’ with brushed hair and all.

Start at your usual time

Another tempting thing is to sleep in a little bit (due to the fact you don’t have to spend an hour on the bus or train to get to work), but trust me, sticking to a morning routine of getting ready, having breakfast and a coffee and a bit of chill time before diving into work at the usual time will get your day started on the right foot.

Take regular breaks

Most of us take a few instagram/coffee/water cooler breaks at work anyways, so don’t feel guilty to do this at home too. Take a short walk outside. Make a snack. Cook a decent lunch and read your book before diving back into the afternoon.

Plan an end-of-day treat

This one speaks for itself. Pick something to look forward to at 6pm whether it’s a new release on netflix, a glass (or two) of wine, or a drool worthy meal.
