QUARTERLY GOAL REVIEW – WHY YOU SHOULD BE DOING IT

19/04/20

So we’re already nearing the end of April which means we are already into the second quarter of the year. January is a distant memory at this stage, and if you’re like most people then your new years goals might’ve fallen on the back burner. One thing I have implemented in my life is quarterly goal reviews. There are so many benefits to doing this!

By reviewing your goals, you are putting the focus back into what you are wanting to achieve this year. Don’t be upset if you’re not where you thought you would be at this point, you still have time to bring the momentum back up and make a plan going forward.

One of my goals this year is to run a half marathon. I haven’t done this since I was 12 years old and I’ve been pretty unfit for the past ten years however I’ve recently casually gotten back into running. I wanted to create a tangible goal to achieve this year so on the 1st of January I told myself I would run a half marathon. Upon reviewing my goal this month I realized I probably hadn’t done quite enough to work towards this goal, but I was able to make this revelation before it was too late. Because it’s only April, I still have plenty of time! I’ve now made some distance goals for the next few months so that come December I’ll be able to hit my 21km target. If I didn’t review this goal in April, I might’ve gotten to the end of the year and felt disappointment, but at least now I have more of a chance to get myself on track. Even the act of thinking about all of my goals and bringing them to the forefront of my mind is motivating in itself.

At your quarterly goal reviews, write your goals down again and note down what you can do within the next few months to work towards achieving them. All the best!
